In-building location using Bluetooth
نویسندگان
چکیده
This paper presents a new system for indoor location of a mobile device based on bluetooth technology. Bluetooth access points of a network are used for the location system and to access the network. Location is made by means of the signal strength received from those access points. The signal energy will be measured by the mobile device and it will be transmitted to a central server that calculates its location. Since location is made in a central server, it is possible to consider any kind of algorithm to estimate it. The location system also uses a previous scene analysis by considering a map of received signal strengths.

Bluetooth Tracking without Discoverability
Outdoor location-based services are now prevalent due to advances in mobile technology and GPS. Indoors, however, even coarse location remains unavailable. Bluetooth has been identified as a potential location technology that mobile consumer devices already support, easing deployment and maintenance. However, Bluetooth tracking systems to date have relied on the Bluetooth inquiry mode to consta...
متن کاملBLEBeacon: A Real-Subject Trial Dataset from Mobile Bluetooth Low Energy Beacons
The BLEBeacon dataset∗ is a collection of Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) advertisement packets/traces generated from BLE beacons carried by people following their daily routine inside a university building. A network of Raspberry Pi 3 (RPi)-based edge devices were deployed inside a multifloor facility continuously gathering BLE advertisement packets and storing them in a cloud-based environment. Th...
متن کاملLocation-Enhanced Activity Recognition in Indoor Environments Using Off the Shelf Smart Watch Technology and BLE Beacons
Activity recognition in indoor spaces benefits context awareness and improves the efficiency of applications related to personalised health monitoring, building energy management, security and safety. The majority of activity recognition frameworks, however, employ a network of specialised building sensors or a network of body-worn sensors. As this approach suffers with respect to practicality,...
متن کاملEvaluation of Bluetooth Properties for Indoor Localisation
Current indoor localisation systems make use of common wireless signals such as Bluetooth, WiFi to track the users inside a building. Amongst those, Bluetooth has been widely known for its low-power consumption, small maintenance cost, as well as its wide-spread amongst the commodity devices. Understanding the properties of such wireless signal definitely aids the tracking system design. Howeve...
متن کاملIndoor Localization based on Bluetooth Technology: A Brief Review
GPS (Global Positioning System) is a widely used and a very popular system for tracking devices and finding out the location of the devices in the outdoor locations. But it is not successful for indoor localization because of reflections of the signals due to walls and presence of furniture and various other factors causing signal attenuation inside a building. Hence, WLAN, Bluetooth, RFID, Wi-...
